The new work group by Karen Pontoppidan with the title “Innen” (Inside) is circling around the role and position of women in the art world. The position inside is a privileged one and rarely reached out by female artists. To be inside means success, public, money, visibility. Most art life of women suffers of a lack of a larger audience. With the brooches, made of painted canvas and embroidered by hand or machine, of different sizes and body, suggest the confrontation or co-existence and fusion of both worlds, the female socialization and the higher located mostly male dominated art world. The body of these brooches symbolize the inner and the outer perspective.
