To accompany the exhibition at Galerie Handwerk, Arnoldsche Verlagsanstalt presents the publication accompanying the exhibition “Among Friends”
Helen W. Drutt English is an American gallery owner, collector, mediator and promoter of contemporary jewellery art. As a tribute to this grande dame of international studio jewelry and to her 60 years of collecting, the publication presents selected jewelry works by US and German artists in a previously unseen compilation. 140 positions of American jewellery art represent its diversity over the last 70 years, from modernist-minimalist works to narrative works and jewelry objects with a strong socio-political statement. The presentation of almost 100 works by German jewellery artists impressively documents the different development of contemporary jewellery in both countries, but also the mutual influences and similarities. The works bear witness to the great dedication with which Helen W. Drutt English is committed to jewellery art, but also to her friendship with the artists from the USA and Germany and, not least, to the close cultural and artistic connection between these two countries.
