American and German Jewelry Artists from the Helen W. Drutt English Collection

We provide an insight into the extensive private collection of the American gallery owner, jewelry lover, collector, author, teacher, craft historian, connoisseur and observer Helen W. Drutt. It has maintained an extraordinary transatlantic relationship with Munich for many decades. In this way, she became a cultural ambassador between the continents, the artists and their different cultures and forms of artistic expression. Her collection includes works by American and German artists. We look at the traditional craftsmanship, the resulting handwriting, the individual narrative concepts embedded in American culture and the deep understanding of material properties as exciting and worthwhile characteristics of the US-American as well as the German-European jewellery scene.

The exhibition takes place in close cooperation between our three institutions, Die Neue Sammlung and the Danner Foundation, to illustrate our heartfelt solidarity with Helen W. Drutt.
